Montesquieu, New World Island and The Sequel are like comfort food; they go down easy and are very satisfying. The books' synopsis is the misery brought about by oppressive regulations of a zealous government cause a wealthy Nebraska farmer/entrepreneur to relocate with his wife and children to a newly formed island in the Pacific where their amazing adventure begins. The characters are the kind of people you would like to have as lifelong friends.

Because so much literature today is unfit for young minds, I highly recommend these books to Midwestern parents looking for a wholesome adventure story for their older children. Mr. Kropp's story will tweak the imagination of a young mind while endorsing wholesome values like hard work, self-reliance, love of God and family, respect for others. In the story, Mark's and Susan's generosity toward others makes the point, oft forgotten these days, that the best way to enrich one's own life is through enriching the lives of others. I think these books should be in High School libraries across America's Heartland.
